Sweet November Review - Esther

It's review day on the All That Scraps blog and I am joining other members of the design team in showing you more projects using the February release stamps and dies. Today we are concentrating on the Sweet November line.

I decided to color up Esther again. I paired her up with one of my new My Mind's Eye pads, Collectable (Remarkable).  I noticed yesterday that underneath our dormant lawn are new springs of green grass. I wanted that represented on this spring card so I added some pops of fresh green with the flourish and the green buttons. I know you guys experiencing heavy snow/blizzard conditions don't really want to hear it. But  yes, we are experiencing signs of spring with daffodils popped up here and there, my camellia bush is loaded and ready to open up, the aforementioned grass, etc. It's still winter but it gives me hope that spring is just around the corner.

Let Freedom Ring

Today's card represents the February Week 4 Verve sketch although I flipped it to portrait. I first cut the star shape from Copic X-Press it blending cardstock using The Cat's Pajamas 3x3 Stars CutUps and then stamped the star image from the Verve American Hero stamp set in Memento Paris Dusk ink. I did just a bit of extra shading with Copic markers E81 and W00. The star border was cut using The Cat's Pajamas Holiday Toppers CutUps. After cutting the three banner strips, I placed the star over them securing with a brass brad. I stamped the sentiment also from the same Verve set onto a tag shape, then added a eyelet brad and ball chain that were from my stash. All the paper came from the Authentique Glory 6x6 pad.

Home Sweet Home

I wanted this Market Street Home Sweet Home stamp set for a long time and finally bought it at the end of year sale. Unfortunately it's been languishing in my not-yet-stamped box since but I've made up for it in a big way. I actually have five cards completed with this set although I'm featuring only one of them today.

I stamped the cottage, fence, shrubbery, hearts coming out of the chimney and the clouds and then cut the image out with My Favorite Things Labels 1 Stax. I stamped the tree separately and fussy cut out after coloring. After coloring the main image, I then positioned the tree in the scene placing it on pop dots for more dimension. All the paper came from the Pebbles Walnut Grove 6x6 pad.

Christmas Mini Cards X 3

Have you been participating in the Member Company Love Fest challenges going on over at Splitcoaststampers? You still have time as projects do not have to be completed until Feb 28th. Lots of fun prizes to be had!

I really haven't had much time to participate but the Taylored Expressions challenge to make a set of 3x3 or smaller cards really caught my attention as I had so much fun making this set for the All That Scraps blog a couple of weeks ago. It was hard to decide what direction to go since I have several TE stamp sets but I finally decided to make some Christmas gift card enclosures using the Taylored Expressions Wings of Joy set. It also helps me with my goal to create at least one Christmas card/project every month. I started out by stamping, coloring and fussy cutting out the images. I then cut the card bases using the Spellbinders Nestabilities Lacey Squares set then the mats and background papers to fit. I assembled the cards adding a snowflake cut with the Taylored Expressions Make a Snowflake dies for each, some bling, a sentiment stamped with Fresh Ink (Strawberry) and some shiny highlights with Ranger Glossy Accents. All the paper came from the Carta Bella Merry and Bright 6x6 pad.

Products: Taylored Expressions stamps and dies, Carta Bella Blvd dp, Oriental Trading Co jewels, Ranger Glossy Accents, My Favorite Things Die-namics, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Copic Markers
Copics: W00, E81, YR30, YR31, BG70, BG0000, BG10, BG11, YG0000. YG21, YG23, G40, G43, G46, RV00, R81, R83, RV32, RV35, R37, R20, R22, R24

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Fly High

I've been busy trying to get our taxes together and keep running into obstacles. To get over my grumpies about it all, I decided to hit the craft table and made a card for this week's Mojo Monday sketch (MOJO281).

I already had the Echo Park Scoot pad on my table so I decided to make a boy card. I cut out all the circles using Spellbinders Nestabilities and then when in search of ways to fill them up.  For the upper circle I allowed the image on the patterned paper be the centerpiece, simply adding a pearl for extra dimension. I then stamped the sentiment from The Cat's Pajamas Up, Up and Away set onto the center circle. I colored and then cut out the airplane from the Papertrey Ink Fly Away mini stamp set, attaching it to the bottom circle. The border was cut with The Cat's Pajamas Inside Pinking CutUps. Lastly I added the kite which was diecut with the My Favorite Things Fly a Kite Die-namics, although I did cut the pieces down a bit to make it smaller.

Products: Papertrey Ink stamp, The Cat's Pajamas sentiment stamp and CutUps, Echo Park dp, American Crafts brad, Kaisercraft pearls, My Favorite Things Die-namics, Bazzil embossing folder, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Copic Markers
Copics: W00, E81, G20, G21, G24, R22, R24, R27, B91, B95, B97, C1, C3, C5

Ok, I'm going back to work on our taxes again. Ya'll come looking for me if I don't return.

Mothers

I broke out my one of my new My Mind's Eye pads for today's cards. I have placed myself on a strict monthly budget but of course MME always has to figure into it. I only bought four out of the six new pads! That's progress, don't you think?! It seemed natural to use one (Collectable-Notable) for the week three sketch from the Viva la Verve February challenges.

The centerpiece of the card is a sentiment from C.C.Designs All About Mom set. I added buttoned up flowers cut with Verve's Loopy Blooms dies anchored against a flourish cut with the MFT Fancy Flourishes Die-namics. A smattering of buttons finished things up. Easy breezy and a card ready for Operation Write Home.

Products: C.C. Designs stamp, My Mind's Eye dp, Verve dies, My Favorite Things die, PTI buttons

I hope that those of you suffering the current bad weather are safe and warm.

Just a "Nautical" Note

I have another card today for the Viva la Verve February challenges. This card is for the week one sketch although I flipped it to portrait. You guys will just have to bear with me while I go through my nautical phase. I once again used the sailboat image again from the Verve Learning to Sail stamp set. The last time I used this set, I went with a more masculine formal theme so I wanted this one to be a bit more informal. Instead of a plain rectangle panel, I  used the Taylored Expressions Wave Border die to create three rows of waves and then inserted the stamped piece among the waves. I added the PTI mini sentiment onto a jewelry tag shape cut with an old Quickutz die and then tied it to one of the waves. I added some buttons here and there positioning them partially underneath the long strip panel acting as dimensional dots. The paper is all from the Echo Park Scoot 6x6 pad

Products: Verve stamp, Echo Park dp, PTI sentiment and buttons, MFT buttons, Quickutz die, Taylored Expressions die, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Copic Markers
Copics: Water-BG0000, BG01, BG05; Sailboat-R20, R24, R27, W00, E81; Shadows-BG70, BG0000

TCP Tuesday and SCS LOVE FEST

Good morning to all. My projects today are pulling double duty for the February TCP Tuesday and also the TCP Love Fest going on over at Splitcoaststampers.

First up is the TCP Tuesday part of it which is my second one for the month. The Cat’s Pajamas switched up the challenge format  by making it a monthly challenge as opposed to the former weekly one. The challenge carries through the entire month and you can find complete details on this post on the TCP blog as well as the InLinkz button to link up your projects.

This month’s challenge is a supply challenge. We are challenging you to bring out your existing The Cat's Pajamas stamps and dies and use them in a new and creative way. For example, if you primarily use your stamps for cards, how about changing it up a bit to use them on a home decor piece or a scrapbook page? Or, if you have a TCP stamp set or die that has not been used before pull it out and use it! Or use a stamp set in a way in which it was not originally intended. Just do something different!

I created an easy gift bag for this challenge using one of the toppers from the TCP Toppers CutUps to cut a decorative edge on a plain glassine bag. I then added another decorative element by using the Pom Pom Flower CutUps to cut a ribbon slide. After inserting the ribbon ending in a fluffy bow I attached it to the bag with double sided tape.

As a member company, The Cat's Pajamas is participating in the Love Fest going on at Splitcoaststampers. Today is TCP's turn to host a challenge which is an inspiration one featuring the photo over to the left. Go here to see the specific challenges for each day. There will also be some fun additional things going on in the TCP Forum. There are prizes to be had so please go check it out!

As for my project, as you can see I was inspired by the colors. I used a Lifestyle Crafts Nesting dies set to create my card base and then created a simple scene for the card front using the Wet Puddle set. The puddle was stamped directly onto the patterned paper background. I used a combo of Copic coloring and paper piecing and after cutting out the image I placed her over the "puddle" using some dimensional dots underneath the forward foot and the head. The strip of gray clouds at the top were cut with the Cloud Border CutUps. The patterned papers are a combination of  Bella Blvd, Echo Park and Simple Stories Sn@p.

Products: The Cat's Pajamas stamp and CutUps, Echo Park and Simple Stories dp, Sasha Farina badge, Lifetstyle Crafts Nesting dies, Copic Markers
Copics: Skin-E000, E00, E11; Hair-N1, N3, N5, N7

So what are you waiting for?! Let's get crafting!

Enjoy Today

I thought it was about time I got started on the February Verve challenges (VLVFeb2013) now that over half the month is over. This is one is actually for week 2 although week 1 hasn't been done yet.

I chose to use the inspiration photo rather than the sketch. I loved the pink, black and white colors plus I thought the Verve Black Tie Birdies matched the scroll work in the black fencing. I stamped the birdies in Memento Rose Bud and Tuxedo Black onto a subtle patterned paper from the Glitz Yours Truly pad. I really went with the (no such thing) rule of twos on this one. Two birds, two banner strips from the Pebbles Walnut Grove pad, two flowers cut with the Verve Loopy Blooms dies from a Simple Stories Sn@p Color Vibe pad, two buttons...Only one card though (grin).

Products: Verve stamps and dies, Pebbles, Simple Stories and Glitz dp, PTI buttons, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Memento ink

I hope you are off to a great week. See you back here tomorrow for TCP Tuesday.

You Put the Wind in My Sails

Today's card features the new Market Street Dreaming of the Sea stamp set. I wanted this set enough to dip into my very small February crafty budget for it. It also represents one of my goals this year to expand my stamp company horizons. I combined three images from the set with a piece cut with the My Favorite Things Peek-a-Boo Squared Die-namics. I've had this for a while now but never managed to use before. For the fourth spotlight I cut a shell from the My Favorite Things Sea Charms Die-namics, attaching with a brass brad. I placed a pot dot underneath it to give it some dimension. The images and sentiment were stamped with Memento Paris Dusk and Rangers Archival Vermillion inks. The bottom border was cut with the Taylored Expressions Wave Border die. All the paper came from the Authentique Glory 6x6 pad. I generally followed this week's Deconstructed Sketch (DS89) for the layout.

Miss U

I have a card today featuring Sugar Nellie Hazel and Nutty which is actually my second entry for the 100th Sugar Bowl challenge. By the way, my first card was "eye candied" on the Sugar Nellie blog here.

This is another one where I had a head start as the image was all ready colored and in a kit. Obviously I must have started in the fall since the colors are rather fall like. I think I stopped working on it because at the time I couldn't figure what I wanted to do for the blank spot in the image panel. But once I started looking through my dies it actually came together easily. I used three different My Favorite Things Die-namics, Fancy Flourish, Mini Royal Roses and Royal Leaves. It also helped that I generally followed the Mojo Monday sketch (MOJO280) for the layout. The sentiment is from the My Favorite Things Notched Tag and Die set and was stamped with Hero Arts Wet Cement ink. The paper is all from the Glitz Designs Yours Truly 6x6 pad.

Products: Sugar Nellie stamp, Glitz Designs dp, PTI buttons, My Favorite Things Die-namics, Fiskars border punch, Spellbinders Nestabilities, Hero Arts ink, Copic Markers

Just Stinking About You

Happy Valentine's Day! I have one more Valentine for you today.

I used an image and sentiments from The Cat's Pajamas Happy Camper set which is a favorite of mine. And although technically not a Valentine set I made it work by using red, black and white colors and a few hearts here and there.

Copics: C00, C1, C3, C5, C7, W00, E81, R20, R24, R27, G43, G46

Do you have any special plans today? We are eating in tonight. I have steaks to grill and even splurged on a couple of lobster tails and a bottle of champagne.

C.C. Designs Review - Meoples Asian Set

It's review day on the All That Scraps blog and I am joining other members of the design team in showing you more projects using the February release stamps and dies.

I am featuring one of Christine's new sets, Meoples Asian. I first cut a circle shape with Spellbinders Nestabilities and after stamping the Geisha, I masked it and then stamped a portion of the Line of Lanterns image. The panda was also part of the same set and was cut out with another smaller circle Nestie. The fan portion of the Geisha image was stamped again, cut out and attached to the main image with a bit of glue at the bottom and then dimensional dots attached at the top.

For You

Good morning. I have a card today featuring Sugar Nellie Hazel that I created for the current Sugar Bowl challenge which happens to be their 100th. I've actually had this sweet fairy colored and kitted up for a while now and even had the mushroom border prepared which was cut with the C.C. Designs Mushroom Border Cutters. So I definitely had no excuse to enter the challenge with such a big head start. The paper is from the My Mind's Eye Gnome Sweet Gnome 6x6 pad.

Products: Sugar Nellie stamp, My Mind's Eye dp, PTI sentiment stamp and button, Kaisercraft jewels, Prima resin mushroom, C.C. Designs Cutters, Copic Markers

Something Special For U

I hope everyone is surviving all the bad weather. It's been raining here constantly and couldn't possibly get any gloomier but it is better than tornadoes and heavy blizzard conditions. I had great intentions of getting lots of crafty projects done this past weekend but somehow that never really materialized. I did get several things colored but today's card represents the only one fully completed.

I created this using the layout from this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club challenge (MFTWSC110) although I flipped it to portrait rather than landscape. I've had this Pure Innocence Something Special Just For You stamp lounging around in my "un-inked" box for a while now. I actually received this in Joanne's very generous giveaway last year. I think this is the last one to get inked up from that group. I stamped the image onto the oval doily cut with the My Favorite Things Decorative Doily Die-namics. The sentiment is from the Notched Tag and Die set. The paper is all from the My Mind's Eye Hootenanny 6x6 pad.

Products: My Favorite Things stamp and Die-namics, My Mind's Eye dp, PTI buttons, The Twinery Twine, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Copic Markers
Copics: Skin-E000, E00, E11, R20; Hair-E31, E35, E39; Crown-Y0000, Y11, Y13; Dress/Shoes-B0000, B000, B01; Gift/Envie-W00, E81, R20, R22, R24; Floor-W00, W1, W2; Shadows-BG70, BG0000

Is anyone else having issues with Google Reader? Mine is all messed up.
